Denise is a member of the Richard Ward Artistic Team

  • Previously at cult Chelsea salon Smile and having trained in all technical areas — colour, cutting and styling – Denise is both a stylist at Creative Director level and a Senior Colour Technician.

    Joining the Richard Ward salon in 2014, Denise brought a fresh approach and exuberance to all things hair, quickly embracing her place in the salon team. With a career spanning more than 30 years within the industry, Denise’s session work has featured on numerous music videos, editorials and TV dramas, tending the hair of many iconic figures such as Joanna Lumley, Brian Ferry, Peter Gabriel, Kylie Minogue and Zoe Wannamaker. Denise has worked with the RW Artistic Team at shows such as the National Wedding Show and London Fashion week.

    Denise has a very distinct approach to her cutting, styling and colour work, believing great hair not only comes from studying the shape of someone’s features and skin tone but just as importantly through working with the client’s natural colouring, texture and density. She believes in creating a finished look that will suit a clients’ individual lifestyle and home care regime, making her work easy to wear and maintain.

    Denise’s wealth of experience coupled with her unsurpassed expertise in both areas ensures she delivers her trademark full and detailed consultation to revitalise, change, or simply maintain a client’s total look.

  • Every member of the Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa Team is fully qualified and extensively trained in every aspect of hair services however Denise’s particular areas of expertise include:

    • Wearable Hair – Easy to wear, soft, textured and voluminous hair is Denise’s signature look. Working with the hair’s natural movement and density, her cutting skills are on-point, knowing when and where to remove weight and add texture is central but always with a nod to a style that is wearable and easy to maintain.

    • Textures & Densities – Fine, straight, frizzy, curly or coarse hair? Sparse, normal or abundant? Nothing fazes Denise and coupled with her extensive technical knowledge she will rise to your hair challenges. Precise in her cutting technique, she really believes she can bring out the best in all hair types; with the right approach, cutting skills and in-depth product knowledge to meet your needs.

    • Long & Lovely – Having always had long, lustrous locks Denise can really appreciate that long hair should be a clients’ crowning glory. With her expert eye she advises and assesses on every aspect of long hair from growth patterns to split-end analysis, and her request rate is a testament to her total understanding of this holistic approach to keeping hair long and healthy.

    • Modern Classics – Although trained in classic cutting techniques, Denise can show constraint. Instinctively knowing when to hold back or push hair boundaries forward, she will strive to give her styling a modern twist and a unique edge so hair does not fall into the mundane and is always bespoke to the individual client.

    • Red carpet/Wedding/Occasion hair – Denise has a true passion for this side of her creativity. Having worked on photo shoots, catwalk shows and represented the very best in wedding hairstyling at the National Wedding show there really is not much this lady can’t do; you need only to ask her expert advice.

    • Men’s Colour – With an extensive male clientele, Denise has become somewhat of an authority on men’s hair colouring. Whether it be some simple comb-ons to hide specific areas of grey or an all over Homme colour, she will always strive to keep the result looking so natural not even your friends would know.

    • Glossy Brunettes – Being a beautiful brunette herself, Denise can really appreciate how to work with the darker base colours to give greater depth, tone and shine. Denise will help you through the process of understanding that being a brunette does not always have to limit your technical options and see there is a whole world of technical delights just waiting for brunettes to discover.

    • Tint & Highlights – Denise really enjoys this combined colour process as you can individualise the end result to best meet the client’s needs and colour expectations. Working with hair’s natural texture and density, she uses enriching tones and baby lights to create depth and interest, enhancing the cut and bringing the look to life, and making the single colour process a little more inspiring and exciting.

    • Global Colour Application – Denise’s level of expertise far exceeds her title and she takes great pride in offering a precision application and consistency in her technical all-over colour processes.

    • Memory Forme – Denise really enjoys this process of making a client’s hair (and life) easier and more manageable when they are away from the salon. She has worked with these products extensively and has a real in-depth understanding of what is achievable to meet the client’s expectation of the end result.

  • Tuesday & Thursday 8.30am to 3.30pm and Wednesday & Friday 11am to 6pm
