LUCIA

Apprentice Colour TECHNICIAN

  • Lucia, originally from El Salvador, has lived in the UK for over a decade and in that time has fallen in love with and immersed herself in the rich tapestry of British culture. Hairdressing is deeply rooted in Lucia's heritage and she is now the third generation of her family to follow into the industry, a tradition which she feels has helped shape her passion and drive. Before joining the RW team Lucia was at University of the Arts London (UAL), where she studied business and the performing arts. Here, she honed her skills and explored the fusion of creativity and entrepreneurship which set the stage for her dynamic career ahead. As an avid performer, Lucia has left her mark on the independent film scene, lending her talents to an array of captivating short films. Through this medium, Lucia learned to understand the connection between storytelling and the human experience, an insight that continues to influence her artistic endeavors and approach to her technical work.

Having been with the company since 2019, Lucia has been an outstanding member of our apprentice team and as a role model to the junior team, she leads by example. Lucia’s super power is her attention to detail which is essential for a great colour technician, and her approach to her technical work blends tradition with innovation to create beautiful colour that transcend borders and give her clients beautiful bespoke results to complement their skin tone and lifestyle.

  • 4 Years

  • Every member of the Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa Team is fully qualified and extensively trained in every aspect of technical services, however Lucia’s particular areas of expertise include:

    • Money Piece

“Money piece" is a specific highlighting technique which creates light, brighter sections around the face, framing it with strategically placed colour, often brighter or bolder than the rest of the hair. The goal is to create a focal point around the face, drawing attention to features like the eyes and cheekbones. The money piece is designed to create a high-contrast look, with the highlighted sections standing out against the base color of the hair. This contrast can be subtle or dramatic, depending on personal preference.

    • Bespoke Balayage

Lucia loves balayage and the natural, lasting tonal layers the technique can create in hair. She ensures that both her colour choice and her technique is customised and personalised to take into account her client’s skin tone and their hair’s texture, density and natural growth patterns.

    • Classic Highlights

Versatility is key when Lucia highlights hair. She carefully chooses the width of her meshes, contrasting tones and the placement of her colour wefts to ensure she creates the perfect blend for her clients. She strategically places colour to add dimension, depth, and a sun-kissed effect to the overall look.

    • Baby Lights

Lucia uses "baby lights" to create a subtle, natural-looking effect. Lucia oftens uses this to blend greys, too. Using a fine weaving technique to select small strands of hair for highlighting, usually lighter than the natural base, but applied in a way that mimics the way the sun naturally lightens hair over time. Understated and low-maintenance compared to more dramatic highlighting methods, Lucia specialises in this technique.

    • Reds & Coppers

Red and copper tones may require more maintenance than other colors, but Lucia thinks these vibrant shades are much underrated and as such they are her passion; from jewel toned ruby hues to deep topaz and rich burgundy, Lucia will help you choose a shade that complements your skin tone and personal style.
